Although the 2014 Golf successor is still quite a few years away, it is being reported that Volkswagen has already begun development of its popular hatchback.
Recent reports have surfaced around the web that due to the European Union’s strict CO2 emission standards that are set to be implemented by the year 2020, the Volkswagen Group will be turning to its ultra-efficient XL1 to adopt a few new fuel saving technologies for the next-gen Golf. Here’s what we understand so far:

Lighter Aerodynamic Shape
In order to be more aerodynamic, the German hatch could adopt a lower body compared to the 2014 Volkswagen Golf, but the overall look of it is expected to be evolutionary rather than being something completely different. Set to ride on the group’s MQB platform, a kerb weight of below 1100kg is being targeted.

Coasting Technology
The marque is aiming to implement the coasting system across its range over the next few years. Basically, the system will decouple the transmission and shut down the engine while going downhill, slowing down and cruising to enhance the fuel efficiency.
Electric Turbochargers
These turbocharges will provide significant gains for low capacity engines. When the engine is slowing down, air will be blown into the turbo to spool it up, so that a full boost can be produced as soon as the accelerator is pressed.

Flywheel System
Besides that, Volkswagen is also toying with its flywheel system, which is something Volvo is currently busy with. This tech allows power to be sent to the rear wheel of a front-wheel-drive car. According to the report, this alone could offer the next-gen Golf with a 40hp or so boost to the rear wheels.

Karamjit Singh won Round 2 of the Malaysian Rally Championship in Johor last weekend. The victory was all the more special as his 2WD 1.6 litre Proton Satria Neo R3 Rally overcame 4WD turbocharged cars from Mitsubishi and Subaru. It was the first time a 2WD 1600 car has won the overall Malaysian Rally in the 10-year history of the MRC in Johor.

According to IWFA, Safety film ranges in thickness 4 mils to upwards of 21 mils and thicker. Somehow, for automobile window use is recommend between 4mil to 6mil thickness. Window film above 6mil may cause disrupt to your power window in 1-2 years time. Some car manufacturer already facing this problem few years ago and only experience shop will aware of this issue.

However we find a lot of shop offering 4-5mil thickness safety film to customer, but they tell the customer is 6-8mil. Guys, thicker safety film is not the selling point, laboratory on physical performance of safety film is the selling point.

In theory, 7mil thickness film provides slightly better smash resistance compare to 5mil, infact it is not much different in safety performance and costing. In Malaysia, safety film come with solar control performance. The different of price is normally due to different heat rejection. According to Raytech report, the metal/ ceramic coating on the film for heat rejection performance is so expensive in USA, on the other hand, the costing for the thickness of the film between 4-7mil is about the same.

Full-electronic toll collection (ETC) at PLUS Batu Tiga and Sungai Rasau toll plazas, supposed to happen this Monday, September 1, is on hold until a later date, according to a statement by Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia (LLM).

The postponement, instructed to PLUS by the Ministry of Works, is to give motorists passing through the two toll plazas more time to purchase SmartTAG, PLUSMiles or Touch ‘n Go cards before full electronic payment takes place, the statement said.
