Ferrari’s decision to turbocharge their line up goes down to a number of reasons such as abiding to the current emission regulations and the fuel economy standards. After the new California T receiving the turbocharged touch, it seems that the next model in line for a boost is their upcoming updated version of the 458 Italia.
Coming from a report by CAR Magazine, the facelifted 2015 458 Italia will receive an uprated version of the California T’s 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. With the additional changes made to the Italia, some suggest that it might change its name to the 458M according to Ferrari’s 5-year plan revealed in May, but the 458 T is most likely.
The California T gets a total of 552-horsepower and 557 lb-ft of torque from its twin turbo 3.9-liter V8 power plant. For the facelifted 458 Italia however, it might be tuned up to produce a higher output of around 670-horsepower, 100 horses more than one would get from the current naturally-aspirated 4.5-liter V8.
To retain the exhaust notes and power delivery, Ferrari is most likely to utilize complex exhaust systems and engine management chips to do the job.
