Usually when the word ‘Porsche’ and ‘Geneva’ come together in a sentence, we would expect the Stuttgart manufacturer to have come up with a new car to be shown to the public. But unfortunately this is not the case as one very rare Porsche recently caught the headlines after flipping over at the second most populous city in Switzerland.

The rare Porsche in mentioned here is the very limited 959 and when we said ‘rare’, only 337 samples were made from 1986 – 1989. So how did the driver managed to leave this Porsche standing on its roof? Apparently the car was driven with excessive speeds on wet roads and the driver then lost control, hit a guardrail and flipping the car like how we see in these pictures.

We were hoping for the damage to be limited to its cosmetic appearances, but a closer look revealed that the car also suffered broken suspension, radiator, some parts of the engine and the bodywork as well. Back in its days, the 959 came with a price tag of USD 225,000 (RM 824,467), and it will definitely cost a bomb to repair something that has long left the production lines.

The 959 is not just another Porsche as back in its time, it was the fastest production car with the capability of hitting a top speed of 317km/h. However, its stay on the top did not last long as Ferrari then introduced the Ferrari F40 with a top speed of 324km/h, which was also the first road-legal production car to fly past the 200mph barrier.
