Ever since the Subaru BRZ came into life, it did not take long for auto enthusiasts to question when an STI version will follow up. Back then, it seemed like Subaru did not have any interest in making an STI version for the BRZ just yet, but it seems like it is not the case today.
In an interview with Automotive News, Subaru spokesman Michael McHale revealed that the U.S. will be getting an STI-tuned version of the BRZ in a couple of years. If you could recall, Subaru hade revealed the BRZ STI Performance concept at the New York Auto Show earlier this year and such is the perfect preview of what to expect on this new car.
The concept houses a turbocharged engine that pushes out 345-horsepower, but has been ruled out for a production version. But even with the absence of a turbo, McHale said that the BRZ STI will still host a number of performance and visual upgrades such as a body kit, uprated brakes, and upgraded suspension.
