China and copyright laws do not really go along and throughout the years, it is almost impossible to find a mainstream brand that has yet to be copied by them. And it is not limited to electronic gadgets or famous designer apparels as cars have been blatantly copied by the Chinese as well and they made no attempt in covering their exploitation in doing so.
And in a recent Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V case, one victim said enough is enough and they are taking matters into their own hands. And this victim happens to be one of the well-known manufacturers of sports cars; Porsche. So who did what actually? As you can see, this is the T700 that Chinese manufacturer Zotye will launch in China next year.
But it would not take long for one to recognize that this ‘T700’ is almost a direct copy of Porsche’s Macan SUV from the front and all the way to the back. While Porsche is adamant in seeking legal action for this matter, it is most likely that the case will just die down like we mentioned earlier, enforcing copyright laws is insanely difficult in China.
Jaguar Land Rover once tried suing Landwind for directly copying the Range Rover Evoque in making the X7, but there was nothing that they could do to prevent the X7 from going on sale. And this is also not the first time for Zotye to get into the spotlight as they once ‘made’ a car that looks similar to Daimler’s Smart ForTwo and also another that resembles the Volkswagen Tiguan.
