Once upon a time at the mention of an electric car, we do not really have a lot of examples in mind, let alone the good looking ones. But this green business seems to be gaining steam along the way and now we have cars like the Tesla and Fisker Karma bringing a better look for EVs. A company in America called Renovo Motors is also interested in playing a role in this, and they had come out with a very handsome example.

Based on the Shelby Daytona CSX9000 which is already a looker, the Renovo Coupe uses new battery technology to keep the weight down which involves distributing the weight of the battery pack in three places around the coupe. With such method, they are able to create better weight distribution compared to a conventional layout. This also gives it a kerb weight of 1474kg, compared to the BMW i8’s 1540kg.

The electric motor powering the Coupe produces 493-horsepower, but with a massive torque figure of 1000 lb-ft.  This propels the Coupe from zerotohundred in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of more than 200m/h. Renovo said that a single charge of the batteries can give the Coupe a range of 160km and can be fully charged from a domestic charging socket in five hours. A fast charging on the other hand takes only 30 minutes.

Other features of the Renovo Coupe include adjustable dampers, 13-inch brake discs with six piston front calipers and four in the rear, and Michelin Pilot Super Sports tires. Set to enter limited production next year, the company bosses said that it will be “a fraction” of what McLaren and Ferrari have set aside for their hybrid hypercars.
