Nissan Canada Offers Micra Track Car!

Racing and cheap never mix. These two words are like oil and water, North and South of a magnet, they just dont go together. But once in a blue moon (When its really blue!), a miracle happens, a miracle like this. Nissan Canada, in conjunction with JD Motorsport Organization, has launched an affordable racing series for the folks of Canada, called the Micra Cup. You guessed that right, the Micra Cup. The series will start in 2015 and will be racing on well known tracks in Québec, Canada.

As mentioned earlier, aspiring drivers can purchase the $19,998 Nissan Micra and join the series. The race series will be using the baseline 1.6 S Micra. In standard form, the Nissan Micra costs a mere $9,998. So what an extra grand bag you?

For starters, the Micra racer will feature the same engine as the standard car, but with an added cold air intake from itg. The rest of the engine remains as how it came out of the factory, which also features Nissan’s Continuously Variable Timing Control (CVTC) with dual fuel injection. The gearbox is the standard five speed manual. Exhaust gasses exit via a modified exhaust.

Moving onto the handling part, the Micra now features sticky slick Pirelli tires paired to a set of Fastwheel rims, a set of Nismo suspension set up, better brake pads and front and rear tow hooks.

The interior also gets a makeover, with the standard seats making way for a lone FIA approved bucket seat with a 5 point harness. Much of the interior has also been stripped, and in its place, you’ll find a race approved rollcage. Sound insulation? Out it goes.

“The Nissan Micra Cup offers competitors the one of-a-kind opportunity to push the limits and hit speeds they never thought they could behind the wheel of Canada’s most attainable vehicle, the Nissan Micra,” said president of Nissan Canada Inc., Christian Meunier.

The Nissan Micra Cup will only be available for purchase from JD Motorsport for $19,998. Sorry guys, this probably wont end up here, as the smallest Nissan we have is the Almera, which isn’t as nimble as the Micra to begin with.
