After our initial report here, the Ferrari 458 Spider has been announced, only thing is, the official name is the Ferrari 458 Aperta. Why the weird Aperta moniker? Well, Aperta means open in Italian, which signifies the open top the 458 A offers. Sharing bits of the open top from its sibling, the 458 Spider’s weight is about 50 kg more than the 458 Speciale.
The 458 A might be Ferrari’s last hurrah with a non-turbocharged V8 engines, with the 4.5 L V8 producing some 597 bhp and 540 Nm of torque.
These numbers also mean that that the 458 A has the single most powerful naturally aspirated V8 produced. Even with the slightly heavier weight, the 458 A manages zerotohundred in a mere 3 seconds, exactly the same as the 458 Speciale.
Aerodynamics too, has been improved. The 458 A now sports much better aerodynamics despite being a convertible. As for the interior, it now sports a shade of dark blue, which gives the 458 A better contrast over the 458 Speciale’s interior.
Numbers are limited to just 499 units, not the 458 units we reported earlier. Prices has not yet been made available, and the Ferrari 458 Aperta will be it’s first public appearance during the Paris Motor Show.
