Ever since we first met the Backwheels Bitches a while back, this small yet closely knit community has been growing rapidly, revealing all types of classic gems that were hiding all these time. Aside from livening up events like Art of Speed and anything related to old skool movements, from time-to-time, they also organize their own gatherings to bring the members closer together, in which the most recent would be the Kiss of the Horizon.
In this drive, the Backwheelers will be traveling in a convoy with their destination being a carpark at the summit of Genting Highlands. Their journey kick started from the first checkpoint at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa at 9 in the morning, where they then headed to the BHP petrol station after the Gombak toll acting as the second checkpoint.
Once everyone was accounted, they continued their journey uphill to the parking lot and arrived at 1.30pm. By the time we got there, they had already set up camp and enjoying each other’s company. We have come across a lot of car clubs and societies, but only a handful of them show a great bond not only between man and machine, but also among the members themselves.
If we have a look on their cherished rides, we would instantly recognize that the owners have definitely spent a great deal of time and money to get his ride to stand out from the others. Especially for the older cars like the Mustang Celica, coming across cars like this today is one thing; restoring it to a point where it actually looks better than how it rolled off from the factory lines decades ago is a different matter!
But the Backwheels Bitches are not just about giving old and classic cars a new lease of life; it is also a way of meeting new people that share the same passion and interest. Aside from the cars being the centre of attraction, they also had a little picnic with barbecue and all to get the members closer together and form a brotherhood among each other.
While we would like to stay with them all day, we unfortunately had to leave the cosy setup at 6pm. The Backwheel Bitches had definitely created something that we rarely see in our local automotive scene, and we would very much love to be a part of their upcoming events anytime soon.
