The connection between Aston Martin and James Bond goes a long way back, with cars like the DB5 and the DBS gaining worldwide popularity through the silver screens. And for the 24th instalment of the James Bond movie which is called “Spectre” Aston Martin had come up with something exclusive for the MI6 agent to ride around in style.

Although we originally thought he will be driving the new Vanquish, it is actually something far more exclusive as Aston Martin had built a whole new car for the film. Dubbed as the DB10, one should not confuse this as a successor to the DB9 as for the time being, the car’s existence is just for the shooting of the movie.

Most likely to be using the platform on the latest Vantage, the DB10 is completely bespoke and features a design penned by Aston Martin’s chief designer Marek Reichmann. Reichmann had also been working closely with director Sam Mendes in designing the car, with the first example being made by hand at Aston Martin’s headquarters in Gaydon.

Only 10 of such units will be built, and all of them will be used for the shooting of the film. Aston however did admit that the design does gives out a glimpse of the manufacturer’s future design direction. But as for the time being, they are keeping a tight lid on the car’s powertrain.

“In the same year we celebrate our 50-year relationship with 007, it seems doubly fitting that today we unveiled this wonderful new sports car created especially for James Bond. I’m incredibly proud of everyone in the team at Gaydon who have brought this special project from concept to reality,” said Dr. Andy Palmer, CEO of Aston Martin.
