There is no doubt that Koenigsegg is one awesome hypercar maker. Pushing the boundaries of a V8 power plant, their crown jewel, the 1341–horsepower One:1 is just a masterpiece and a monster at the same time waiting to be unleashed. And now, they are looking forward in putting all those horsepower for good use as the Swedish automaker is aiming to top the charts for production cars going around the Nurburgring.
With such a target in sight, this means that the Koenigsegg One:1 would have to dethrone the Porsche 918 Spyder which did a stupendously fast lap time of 6:57 around the Green Hell. While we would like to include the McLaren P1 in the picture, unfortunately the Brits have still yet to reveal their lap time (although they boldly claimed that they dipped below the seven minute barrier). Ferrari’s LaFerrari? They could not be bothered in these lap times shenanigans.
Anyways, it is not only the One:1 Koenigsegg will be fielding as they are also putting the Agera R into the attempt as well. With considerably more power than both the 918 and P1, Koenigsegg is very confident that they will be able to achieve their target.
“When we look at the sector times, we’re already on course for a record. I hate the need to do it, but this is one of the ways to prove yourself in this part of the market,” explained company founder Christian von Koenigsegg to Car and Driver.
