After four rounds of intense wheel-to-wheel actions, the 2014 Malaysian Super Series is finally reaching to an end as we welcome the Final Round at Sepang International Circuit last weekend. The 2014 season has provided us with tonnes of thrills and spills from all the contestants, displaying great competition from not only the factory-backed teams, but also from the privateers whom had shown great fighting spirits and pace as well.

For this final bout, all eyes are set on the duo of Chris Tan/Alan Wong from RT-ROWE Pentagon Racing Team facing off the threat posed by Damien Dielenberg/Tommy Lee in the Touring Production category. Starting the race from second on the grid, Chris-Alan in the Honda Civic FD gave great chase to Damien-Tommy racing in the Honda DC5 who started the race in pole position.

Followed closely by Tony Teo, also in a Honda DC5, the battle for supremacy went on for 22 laps before Chris and Alan took the chequered flag with a time of 1:00:44.094, followed by Damien and Tommy two seconds after. Despite winning the race for Round 5, it is Damien-Tommy who goes home with the Championship title for 2014 with 120 points.

“The race was good, it was very hot but it was a good fight. We had a good set-up but needed just a bit more power. We won today but we are second overall,” said Chris with 91 points overall for RT-ROWE Pentagon Racing.

Even in the final round, there are a couple of new comers in the Malaysia Touring Production category as Honda Malaysia Racing Team fielded two new race cars to join the grid. Even in its debut, the #26 Honda City did pretty well as Takeharu Aoki and Alif Hamdan managed to break away from the crowd to secure a fifth place finish. Things were a bit unfortunate for Aaron Lim in the #22 Honda Jazz as he got caught in an incident while exiting Turn 15, which also took him out from the race.

Things were all green at Team Sakura-Tedco Racing where after securing pole position during qualifying, Fitra Eri and Mark Darwin went on to spread the lead to take the chequered flag for the Malaysia Touring Production category. Unfortunately, a penalty was imposed towards the team and added 30 seconds into the time, dropping them down to third place finish. However, the 2014 Championship title was still Team Sakura-Tedco Racing’s to take.
