German engineered – Malaysian assembled; that is the slogan used by Volkswagen for their newly-launched 2014 Polo Sedan at the Setia City Convention Centre. The launch of this new Polo Sedan marks the company’s efforts to reach the Malaysian mass market segment and at the same time to provide them with a more affordable German engineered car.
“The introduction of the 2014 Polo Sedan is significant for Volkswagen as this car marks the second locally assembled model with our partner DRB-HICOM”, said the Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Malaysia, Dr. Zeno Kerschbaumer at the media launch.
“The locally assembled Polo Sedan carries 100-percent Volkswagen DNA that encompasses a strong heritage in German automotive engineering. We trust that the 2014 Polo Sedan with its class leading features will definitely give Malaysians a new level of affordability with uncompromised German technology”, he added.
The car is powered by a 1.6-liter 16-Valve Multi Point Injection (MPI) engine producing 105-horsepower. Mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic, the 2014 Polo Sedan has the highest torque in its class with a maximum output of 153Nm at 3800 rpm and offers a combined fuel consumption of 6.5l/100km. This allows drivers to go a distance of about 15.4km per liter.
Volkswagen also claims that their 2014 Polo Sedan is the only car in its segment that provides various connectivity options to the customers, offering a RCD 320 Radio system with multi-langiage support, USB and iPod interface, SD card slot, AUX-in and Bluetooth connectivity. It also comes with “Climatronic” auto air conditioning, rear air conditioning vent and a new heingh-adjustable front centre armrest with storage box and rear cup holder.
With 15-inch Riverside alloy wheels, chrome finish and halogen headlamps as standard, the 2014 Polo Sedan will be available in five different colors; Candy White, Flash Red, Pepper Grey, Reflex Silver and Deep Black. It will be priced at RM 85,888 without insurance.
