Picking up where the last rendition left off – Porsche brings back the Turbo S variant to their latest facelifted 4-door road bruising Panamera. Completing the family with the standard V6, the V6 S, E-Hybrid, Diesel and Turbo versions, the Turbo S packs a massive punch against the previous generation thanks to reworked engine and a fresh styling to match.
Unveiled ahead of its Tokyo Motor Show debut, the Turbo S carries similar styling upgrades like its less powerful brother in the flesh. At the front, the new Panamera carries a refreshed front bumper that sports larger intake ducts, redesigned headlamps with LEDs and matched with reworked rear lights and bumpers for improved styling. At the same time – Porsche mentions that the all new Panamera is fitted with a colour-keyed four way spoiler for improved aerodynamics.
Under the hood – the all-new Turbo S comes with an enhanced turbo and pistons to cope with the higher boost range that the ‘S’ variant offers. The 4.8-litre V8 twin-turbocharged engine producing a whopping 562bhp and 750nm of almost instant torque. Also, the ‘S’ comes with a boost button that can momentarily boost the torque from 750nm to 800nm for an added burst of acceleration. Zerotohundred will be fulfilled in 3.8 seconds and keep the foot on the heavy pedal long enough; the Turbo S will speed all the up to 193mph. Worried about the fuel economy for all that power? Stuttgart claims that the new engine promises a 11 percent economy improvement to match.
Porsche is offering a new line-up dubbed ‘Executive’ that affirms an additional 150mm of wheelbase that leads to a roomier cabin. The Turbo S Executive will cost an additional $20,000 from the standard Turbo S model which we think is worth the money as the Panamera could really use a bit more space for a much more comfortable long distance journey. The new makeover gives the Panamera a much sought after fresh looks and the souped up performance changes the game in the class. Do we like it? Absolutely! We want one!
