The New KTM X-Bow GT Gets a Windshield and Windows!

The KTM X-Bow (pronounced ‘Crossbow’) at first sight might look like an extreme go-kart, but this open top ultra-light sports car is actually legal for road use. Designed by purists, the absence of all the extra equipments like the stereo or the air conditioning, and the necessaries like the roof or a windshield, is nothing to them compared to the driving experience that they are searching for.

But what they are lining up for Geneva for the next few days somehow shows that they are going a bit off from their original idea. With their new car named the KTM X-Bow GT, their new car is slowly heading to the civilized picture as it now comes with a windshield and some side glass.

While the original X-Bow did have a tiny piece of glass to keep off the bugs from splattering on one’s face, the windshield installed on the GT could improve the car’s long-range drivability. Both the windshield and side glass will also come with heaters and wipers. For the time being, there are no words on whether they are planning to put on a roof on the GT though.

The X-Bow GT is based on the R, so it might probably be housing the same turbocharged 2.0-liter Audi engine with 285-horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Neither the price nor the performance was released by KTM for the time being, but we should have them once it is officially unveiled at Geneva later on.
