The Natural-Aspiraters @ 2013 TIMETOATTACK Final Round + Results!

Naturally-aspirated machines are always the more engaging candidates at Sepang. Primarily due to the purity of how it makes power, naturally. With the ability to provide unadulterated power whenever needed, the NA machines displayed their prowess especially when cars like untouchables such as the Honda Civic FD2Rs’ ability to beat some of the upper-class elite competitors in TIMETOATTACK including the time attack machines – in their street-legal form!

Hondas were literally dominating the NA-FF class. With most of them opting for the FD2R as the weapon of choice to carry out the task of time attack, Sepang was instantly filled with the distinctive high-pitched screams.

One of the must-show faces within the FD2R movement is none other than the fleet from Pentagon Racing. Having spent lots of time in Sepang and at our own TIMETOATTACK, they are more than familiar in navigating the circuit, so a little drizzle or a hint of darkness hardly slowed them down.

The FD2R and DC-5Rs had further cemented Honda’s fame in producing great NA-FF racers, but it was cars like the previous Civic EK, EG, or the Integra DC2 that had put Honda’s fearsome VTEC powered rocket on the map.

Although Honda only has a handful of rear drivens among their line-up, each and every one of them are now icons in the motoring world. Put aside the sight of seeing the ultra-rare NSX tearing up the circuit during TIMETOATTACK, the S2000 gave the cars in the NA RWD class a run for their moneys. A prime example would be the infamous gray S2000 driven by Eugene that clocked a 2:33.058 in the damp, allowing him to win in the Super Street class.

Here’s not forgetting other players of the game, as the Toyotas had once again proven mighty within the winner’s circle with 2 different variants. The 86 and the MR-S. Kenny Lee, Founder at Kegani and resident driver for TRD Malaysia had once again set a record in an 86 clocking in at 2:37.832 with a 1 plus second improvement over his last entry in May. There is also William Chong in his Riyoz Racing MR-S that had managed to clinch 2nd with a laptime of 2:38.149 just a second or so behind!
