The all-new Peugeot 208 GTi was launched today by the official distributor of the brand in Malaysia, Nasim Sdn. Bhd. Taking place at their new Peugeot Old Klang Road showroom, the sporty and stylish performance hatch is set to capture the attention in the performance hatch segment.
“The GTi badge is strongly associated with the 2-series range of Peugeot cars delivering the highest level of performance and technology honed from Peugeot’s active involvement in motorsports. Started with the iconic 205 GTi and followed up with the 206 GTi and 207 GTi, the all-new 208 GTi reignites the passion in the performance hatch segment”, said Dato Samson Anand George, Chief Operating Officer of Nasim Sdn Bhd.
The sporty genes of the 208 GTi are reflected through the car’s characteristic posture. The widened wheel arches, special body sills and wing extensions gives it a better presence. Easily distinguishable with its three-door body style, the sportiness continues to the interior where it is finished with red stitching.
The 208 GTi is powered by a 1.6-liter direct-injected twin scroll turbo that churns out 200-horsepower and 275Nm of torque. Mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, the car could do a zerotohundred in 6.8 seconds and has a top speed of 230 km/h.
But the power is not the only highlight for the 208 GTi as it is also fitted with MacPherson-type struts and antiroll bar for the front suspension, offering precise handling. Braking-wise, 302mm (front) and 249 mm (rear) ventilated discs sit behind the alloy wheels with 205/45 tires. The car is also fitted with a comprehensive list of safety features which includes Stability Control, Traction Control, ABS, EBA and EBFD. The latest-generation Electronic Stability Program is fitted to detect the first signs of a sideways skid and helps reduce over steer
The Peugeot 208 GTi starts at RM 139,888 OTR with insurance and is offered in Digital White and Rogue Red. Like all existing Peugeot models in Nasim’s line-up, it comes with their five-year warranty with unlimited mileage together with Nasim’s existing lifetime 24-hours Peugeot Assistance service.
