The radical Lexus LFA is adored by many, and it is too sad that they only exist in this world in a very limited number, coupled with a very hefty price tag. But it was at last year’s Detroit Auto Show that Lexus revealed a new and stunning concept called the LF-LC Sports Coupe Concept, and ever since that everyone has been waiting for the word from Lexus that they will actually drop the “Concept” moniker and roam the streets. That may soon become a reality as Lexus has finally came with a decision, which is to give a green light to the development of a production version of the LF-LC Concept.
After receiving a very encouraging reception towards the concept car in various auto shows around the world, Lexus’ Vice President – Marketing Brian Smith revealed this long-awaited news at a recent media event.
“That was (intended as) a concept car, and I think it surprised everybody, including us, when japan said due to overwhelming response they decided to do it. It’s a huge win”, said Smith.
Unfortunately, that is the only bit that Smith shared during the event, and no details about the car’s engine or powertrain were revealed or even hinted. But to get a general idea, the LF-LC Concept houses a petrol-electric hybrid powertrain that has a combined output of 499-horsepower. With every single LFA already being sold and the plant being brought to a close, this might just be the next jaw-dropping sports car to come from this surprisingly luxurious brand.
