Infiniti Red Bull Sets the Pit Stop World Record at the 2013 Malaysian GP!

The world of Formula 1 is all about speed and precision, and that is not limited to only the circuit. Also one of the most favorite parts for the viewers are the lightning quick pit stops that could either put one into the winning position, or losing their lead and dropping down low. And at the recent 2013 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix, the guys from Infiniti Red Bull Racing demonstrated what ‘fast’ really means.

Since pit stops no longer involve refueling, the duration decreases dramatically to the range of less than 4 seconds. Back in 2012, McLaren had set an impressive record of changing the four tires in just 2.31 seconds in Germany. But surprisingly that lightning-quick record does not stay on top for long as a faster pit stop was performed at the recent 2013 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix.

Whether it was the heat or the growing tension, McLaren’s record was smashed six times during the race; which five was performed by the Infiniti Red Bull, and the other one was from McLaren themselves with a 2.28-second. And in what speed did the Infiniti Red Bull guys did to grab the record? Displaying impeccable precision during Mark Webber’s pit stop on Lap 19, the whole change of four tires was done in just 2.05 seconds.

If you were yawning or doing something else during this stop, there is a big chance that you would have missed it. But with the blessings of today’s technology, you could simply click play on the video below and have a look on how the fastest pit stop is done.
