Honda is putting their name back in the auto enthusiasts’ radar, and the announcement of the new Type-R had caught the attention of many worldwide. Couple that up with their new twin-turbo NSX hybrid, they are putting a new and unique entry into the British Touring Car Championship, and that car takes the form of the Civic Tourer.

Honda Yuasa Racing who is sponsored by Dunlop MSA will be entering the 2014 season which starts in March, and will also see the track debut of the new Civic Tourer race car. Succeeding the dominating hatchback version, drivers Matt Neal and Gordon ‘Flash’ Shedden are expected to grab more titles driving in the new machine.

“2013 was a highly competitive season for British touring cars and the championship fight went right down to the wire”, said Gordon Shedden. “However, I am sure that it will be a strong year for the team in 2014 and, more excitingly, with a new car. It may be a Tourer, but it is still a Civic, the car that for the last three years, has won every championship in the BTCC”.

How different will the Tourer perform from the hatchback version, only time will tell. But for the time being, it will be a great spectacle to see such a vehicle being prepped into race configuration and will soon run wild on the circuits.
