Genii Capital Buys into German Tuner RUF!

German tuning and manufacturing firm RUF, popular for their recreations of Stuttgart-born Porsche vehicles has received Genii Capital – owners of the Lotus F1 Team, as shareholder and strategic partner.

Though, at this point in time, the percentages of ownership are as such undisclosed, RUF has only gone so far as to indicate that Gerard Lopez – Chairman of the Lotus F1 team and majority owner of Genii Capital, is now a non-executive Chairman of the Board at RUF.

RUF being more than well-known for churning out brutish recreations of Porsche models have been in business since 1939. With the current addition of Genii Capital, both companies now look to help increase awareness and popularity of RUF as a German tuner; especially in emerging countries as their primary objective, while keeping an eye out for new strategic opportunities as well.

According to Lopez, it seems there will be much cause for excitement next month (March 2013) at the Geneva Motor Show, hinting at the possibility that a new RUF model that’ll probably be propelled by their in-house lightweight V8 powerplant could be making an appearance, sending hearts racing and heads spinning; much like their 1987 CTR Yellowbird – dubbed as the fastest production car in the world with a top sped of 342kmh.
