BMW releases a Japan only M5 called the ‘Nighthawk’ Special

The bavarian automaker has been rewarding its Japan-based cliental with über cool special editions that are exclusive to the Land of the Rising Sun. And they’ve done it again with this fully blacked out – ninja dressed M5 F10. Its called the ‘Nighthawk’ and it looks exactly like the stealth ninjas that lurks around in early-day Japan.

What’s different? Firstly, the Nighthawk is painted in specially coated Frozen Black under the BMW individual programme which should be able to set it apart from regular, non-ninja M5s. At the same time, the 20″ optional alloys are also painted in black following the stealthy theme that the Nighthawk ensemble. Other parts that follows this theme are the signature kidney grilles and door handles which continues the black tradition.

In contrast to the stealth exterior – the interior is nothing close to the exterior theme as it is orange! Well, its more like red but its called Sakiru orange which sounds like a signature bubble tea. The seats are wrapped with Merino leather which are matched with the carbon fibre trim.

In terms of performance, the Nighthawk is fitted with BMW’s new Competition Package programme which squeezed an extra 15bhp from the already powerful 560bhp 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8. Not only with added power, also fitted in the programme are Carbon Ceramic brakes, Sports exhausts and some software tweaks for better driving dynamics. This brings down the rear-wheeled V8 monster’s Zerotohundred time to 4.2 seconds (originally 4.3 seconds).

The M5 ‘Nighthawk’ is no doubt the coolest looking M5 to have ever come out of the production line and at the same time – an absolutely exquisite machine to behold. Only 10 of this will get to see the light of day and it cost a gut-wrenching $182,000 which is about twice the cost of a standard M5 F10. Expensive isn’t it? Well, to those seeking exclusivity with a touch of M-power, then this has got to be the answer to their prayers.
