Audi’s Hybrid Racer Takes the Win in the 12 Hours of Sebring!

Audi’s mighty hybrid race machine, the R18 e-tron Quattro continues to pave its way to the top of the ranks as it added another victory under its belt for endurance racing, after winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2012. Their 11th win is also a special mark to celebrate as it is the first hybrid car to have ever won the 12 Hours of Sebring.

Both of the Four Rings’ race machines took the top two positions, with the No.1 Audi R18 e-tron Quattro piloted by Marcel Fassler, Benoit Treluyer and Oliver Jarvis winning just by 7.68 seconds from the No.2 diesel-hybrid spec car with Allan Mcnish, Tom Kristensen and Lucan DiGrassi as the drivers.

“That was a perfect finale! I’m very happy about this one-two victory in a race in which both of our cars battled against each other all the way to the finish and delivered a fantastic show to the many fans. The entire squad worked hard, so winning after a long twelve hours is the sweetest reward”, said the Head of Audi Motorsport, Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich.

Coming in at third was Toyota in their No.12 Rebellion Racing Lola B12/60 with Neel Jani, Nicolas Prost and Nick Heidfeld behind the wheels. Over at the GT class, Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner Jr and Richard Westbrook in the No.4 Chevrolet Corvette took the checkered flag from the Risi Competizione Ferrari 458 Italia with only 14 minutes to go.
