The Subaru BRZ STI Expected in 2013

Ever since the moment that the Subaru BRZ appeared into the motoring world, one could almost be 100-percent sure that sooner or later, a more powerful version of this wonderful sports car will appear into the scene. That wait is closing in to the end as somewhere next year, Subaru is set to release the much hotter BRZ bearing the iconic STI badge.

Let us cut straight to the chase. The power from the 2.0-liter boxer engine is adequate for one to have fun, but it does not give that extra grunt to send some chills down the spine. For this, Subaru is turbocharging the four-cylinder engine to pump up the output to 280-horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque for some serious firepower. The engine will utilize a single twin-scroll turbocharger and straight direct-injection developed in-house, rather than using the current DI/port-injection system developed alongside with Toyota for the naturally-aspirated version.

The aggressiveness continues through the menacing bodykit and also employs some weight-shedding effort with the carbon fiber roof. For some extra down force, lower front spoilers and a rear wing are added to keep the car stable and planted during high speed runs. It is also said that Brembo will be providing the stopping power for this wild BRZ, hiding behind the 18-inch alloy wheels.

So Subaru had pumped up their tame BRZ into a serious street thug that will be both exciting on the streets and the tracks. Surely this will not be overlooked by Toyota, so let us wait for what they have in store for the near future.

I knew this is sure to come. Don't think they would just stop at 197ps and get smoked by FDRs, Meganes, Focus, and Golfers
