Nico Rosberg Pops in For Pre-Opening of 1,001st PETRONAS Station in Wangsa Maju!

Last weekend was the conclusion of the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix, which allowed Nico Rosberg from the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team to make an appearance just before the opening of the 1,001st PETRONAS fuel station located in Wangsa Maju.

The pre-launch allowed lucky winners from PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad’s (PDB) Facebook contest a rather rare and personal encounter with Nico, as he filled up their fuel tanks for them building-up to the opening of the company’s 1001st station in the country; with much glitz, glamour song and definitely some dance.

The 27 year old F1 driver also signed a poster advertisement on the station’s wall to mark the occasion – subsequently turning it into an autograph-signing session for all – which almost overshadowed the company’s highlighting of their F1-inspired products such as their PRIMAX 95 XTRA AND PETRONAS Syntium.

“Congratulations to PETRONAS on the opening of their 1001st station. I always enjoy visiting Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur but it’s especially nice to be here today and share the occasion. Last year, we did a programme at the first ever PETRONAS station (Taman Tun Dr. Ismail) and today I am at the 1,001st station which is an impressive accomplishment.”

Also present during the opening was Akbar Mohd Thayoob (Senior Gneral Manager of Retail Business Division, PETRONAS Dagangan Bhd, who said: “This is a landmark occasion for us all in PETRONAS, and what better way to kick off the celebrations of our 1001st station than to do it with Nico Rosberg. For us, PETRONAS’ involvement in formula one goes far beyond a global branding tool but is also an important commercial step with us not only in developing, providing and supplying all the fuels, lubricants and fluids to the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team but also in the engineering of the most intelligent fuel and lubricant products for our consumers. To have Nico here today represents that connection beautifully!”

The latest 1001st PETRONAS station is located on Jalan 2/27a, Seksyen 1 Wangsa Maju, 53300 Kuala Lumpur.
