All for a Good Cause – Ferrari Auctions the First US F12 for Hurricane Sandy Relief

Ferrari does not only sell their wide range of supercars to fund their Scuderia Ferrari racing team, they are also known to have contributed a huge sum of amount to those affected by natural disasters. Other than the recent effort in helping their fellow countrymen in the Emilia-Romagna earthquake by holding an online auction with the 599XX EVO raking a huge sum of RM 5.5 million, they are also doing their bit in helping those affected by the destructive Hurricane Sandy through the auctioning of the very first Ferrari F12 Berlinetta in the US.

With a 6.3-liter V12 engine sitting in the front, this is by far the most powerful road-legal Ferrari to date as it has 730-horsepower to gallop with. Bearing an all-new design language that captivates the eye of the beholder, this new Grand Tourer manages to fetch an impressive amount of USD $1.125 million, almost four times from the car’s original price of USD $315,888.

Even so, Larry Roth, the F12’s new owner will not only be able to help those in need through the huge sum, he also gets the privilege of skipping the waiting process in owning Ferrari’s new beast. Even before the auction was held, Ferrari had already managed to collect USD $345,000 in relief donations through dealer and client donations, and another USD $50,000 during the auction itself. In total, they had managed to raise USD $1.5 million for this humble cause, in which all of them will go to the Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy relief.

The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta debuted at the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Bearing a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, it channels the massive output from the front mid-mounted V12 to the rear wheels, giving it a 3.1-second zerotohundred sprint and a top speed of 340km/h.
