Who Will Be Quickest This Weekend? Fernando Alonso Says Red Bull …

Fernando Alonso is not ready to place a bet, but his tip as the favourite for Sunday’s 2010 season opener is Red Bull.

“I think Red Bull were a little bit ahead at the last test,” said the Ferrari driver, who has been named as the Bahrain favourite by some of his own rivals.

The Spaniard said during an interview with Cadena SER radio that Red Bull, with Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber at the wheel, are “perhaps very strong now, but Bahrain is an unusual track so it’s hard to bet on a winner”.

Beyond this weekend’s race, 28-year-old Alonso predicts a close battle for the title.

“There will be four or five drivers in the fight. I’d like to know who it will be,” he smiled.

Alonso insists he will not be personally disappointed if he is not able to commence his new tenure with Ferrari by adding to his two world titles.

“This is sport, not everything is two plus two,” he said. “Winning a world championship is not a logical thing and it would not be a disappointment, even if we will work hard so that we do not disappoint our fans.”

Really hard to guess at this point. The RedBull car in my view is not hugely aggressive in particular areas like Mclaren but it is quite 'elegant' in its solutions which is good. I think it may translate to consistency in it's performance through the season.

However still hard to predict who is the favourite as the factors to winning a race this year is different due to no re-fuel so outright pace is not everything.

Sauber is looking impressive for race day result because their car are easiest on the Bridgestones. This year the race will be more like endurance racing rather than outright sprints like before. The drivers will focus on preserving tyres which means that it might actually end up a little boring.

Drivers that performed well last year may struggle a little this year and vice versa. All about tyres.

Dirty Lolita?? LOL

There was a lot of anticipation on their ahead of the unveiling at testing. Like the RB5, this RB6 is the creation of the brilliant Adrian Newey who apparently still uses a drawing board.

I think many were a little dissapointed because there was nothing revolutionary in the new carlike last year. Newey claims this car is an evolution of the RB5 simply because the RB5 was a very good package. Like the RB5, the RB6 is still the only car on the grid with a rear pull-rod suspension.

Compare that design approach to Williams who went with a completely new design for this year.

Very interesting mix of approaches this year. Lets see who bet on the winning horse.
