Prior to the time attack session, an open track day was held that saw some of the time attackers participate as well in an effort to get the most out of their machines and further familiarise themselves with the circuit.

Right from the get-go, the atmosphere was understandably tense as the drivers were out to stake their claim as the fastest man around the SIC. This time around though, the participating cars had to undergo a scrutinising process before being allowed out on the track in a move to eliminate all uncertainties that stemmed from the previous rounds.

This time around, Farriz was back with a vengeance to reclaim his fastest time title that was snatched at the very last moment in the previous round. In the first round, Farriz managed a 2:30:421 around a very damp SIC, a time that stood strong through the dry second round only to be smashed by Kazama Racing in the third round on their very last lap by Lai Wee Sing in their Kazama Racing Honda Civic Type-R, that notched a 2:28.249.

In the final round, Farriz proved his intentions to take back the fastest lap time as soon as his tyres hit the asphalt. On his very first hot lap, he pulled a 2:23:609 to wipe the floor with all previous records. That time would remain as the fastest in the Supercars class as he ran that on semi-slick tyres.

Having just warmed up, Farriz then had a set of full slick tyres fitted to the Links-Mofaz Racing GT-R and went out to try and better his overall time in the Time Attack Machines class.

As the day came to an end, he had managed the 2:19:785 to leave the rest of the field wondering what hit them. Such was the dominance of Farriz that his fastest time in the Supercars class, the 2:23:609, would have still netted him the overall fastest time with seconds to spare.

Coming in second was Ronnie Chen in the Ascendant Motorsports Porsche 997 Turbo with a time of 2:25:796, also in the Time Attack Machines class as he ran full slick rubbers.

The final spot on the podium went to Ling Ken Ji in the HKS Garage-R Nissan Silvia S15 with a time of 2:26:331. Although Ken Ji ran on semi slick tyres, he was still placed under the Time Attack Machines class due to the nature of his ride, a pure time attack prepped beast.

A number of Renault Megane RS250 Cup’s were also out on track, led by former Singapore A1GP driver Denis Lian in an attempt to better his record lap time for the car at SIC.

Apart from the time attack session itself, there was also a drag race purely for Nissan GT-R’s at the end of the day. That led to one of the largest GT-R gatherings. Once again, it was Farriz that crossed the finish line ahead of all the other cars to win the GT-R drag battle as well.

The final round of the Time to Attack: Sepang series was the stage for all the quickest drivers out there to step up and be counted. They all did as the lap times fell drastically compared to the previous rounds. In fact, the nine overall fastest times from the final would have easily eclipsed the fastest time from the first round.

Plans are already in the works for the Time to Attack 2011 series by Zerotohundred.com, so stay tuned for a more exciting season of time attack with much more drama thrown in the mix.
