Nissan Motor Co., Ltd, Japan recently announced a recall for the Nissan Frontier & Xterra models sold mainly in USA & various countries in the Americas involving a total of 585,294 units. This recall is to check and, where necessary, fix potentially faulty parts for these 2 models.
However, owners in Malaysia need not worry as there is no such recall affecting local models. Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd, the sole distributor and assembler of Nissan vehicles in Malaysia, has confirmed that Malaysian models are not affected by this recall and has released the following statement for Nissan customers in Malaysia:
Steering Column Lower Joint – Nissan Frontier
- In the official press announcement concerning the steering column lower joint components issue on the Nissan Frontier models sold in the US and the Americas, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. Japan has officially confirmed that the Nissan Frontier model sold in Malaysia is NOT affected by this issue as it has a different shaft structure for the lower joints compared to the Frontier model sold in the Americas.
- We have not received any complaints for the Nissan Frontier’s steering column lower joint in Malaysia and Nissan/ETCM would like to reaffirm and emphasize to our customers in Malaysia that the Nissan Frontier model sold by Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) is not affected by this recall issue.
- Regarding the same recall issue for the Nissan Xterra, ETCM would like to confirm that the Nissan Xterra is not sold in Malaysia.
