The guys over at Pistonheads have learned that Porsche could be working on a ultra-hardcore track day version of the already blisteringly quick GT2. But despite the fact the 530bhp GT2 is already very very fast, a source close to the German carmaker revealed that a faster, lighter and more powerful version is on the cards.
The latest GT2 has managed to shake off the ‘widow maker’ status of old but some owners have found it more suited to the road than the track. An RS version would solve that and could be the quickest road-going Porsche around a track ever, bar perhaps the GT1.
If it goes ahead the new car is rumoured to feature a Perspex rear window and centre-locking wheels. There would also be other substantial weight-saving measures to contribute to an incredible 200kg reduction.
Power is expected to be increased by 50bhp to 580bhp and it is thought that just ten RHD examples will be built. If it does make it to production expect the GT2 to make an appearance sometime during the second quarter of next year.
