Details On Honda Display Cars At The 2009 Tokyo Auto Salon

Despite halting production on some of its top models, Honda will be displaying a formidable line-up at the annual Tokyo Auto Salon which kicks off this Sunday. The two headliners are the Sports Modulo S2000 shown above and other Fit concepts.

The S2000 may not be as sleek as its predecessor with its oversized headlights and out of place sideskirts, we’re hoping the car looks better in real life. On the contrary the interior looks much classier than in previous models with it’s swanky brown leather adorning a variety of surfaces. But it’ll take a lot to get over that ugly piece of bodykit though.

The Sports Modulo Fit Concept is so orange, all that’s missing is a Fanta logo on the doors. Not even the wheels are left untouched — one spoke on each of the gunmetal grey Modulo rims gets the Sunkist treatment. Inside, it looks as if Halloween pumpkin exploded all over the cabin. What isn’t black is orange, and you’ll find sport seats, a sport steering wheel, supplemental gauges, etc. Did we mention that there’s orange?

The once car that is about to cause a stir here is the Sports Modulo Civic Type R. With updated fenders, bumper and grille design, the Civic Type R now sports a love it or hate it look. The butterfly grill, the gaping holes in the bumper and the lack of a rear spoiler are the main updates to the Civic Type R.

The last ride is a girl’s car. There’s no arguing that. It’s got pink paint, pink wheels, patterned pink seat covers, and appears to have been set upon — inside and out, mind you — by a horde of Bedazzler-wielding Japanese schoolgirls. There are rhinestones everywhere. Definately not something we would want to be caught dead in.

As for the rest, it’s a mix of new cars like the Honda Zest Spark, tricked production vehicles such as the Touring Modulo Accord Tourer (winner in the ‘Best Name” category), and a smattering of other design studies shown in the gallery below.

The new bumper design for their modulo range definitely has Chris Bangle's (BMW) flame surfacing at work here. I kind of like the S2000's interior. The whole car looks somewhat better even if they hate the side skirts. Maybe tone down a little of the fins on the end of the skirts and loose the pinch on the creases. Maybe i will work. But then again it would look like any ordinary kit that everyone could buy.

I like the cute pink number too. hehehe.
