Celebrating the Nurburgring: Titan Movie Trailer

The Nurburgring is considered to be the holy grail of car racing and manufacturing. Over the years, the legendary race circuit has turned from just another race venue to the one place that sets the standard for any car with sporting intentions. Track junkies perform pilgrimage to the track to find out for themselves why it’s known as the Green Hell, and now among it’s millions of fans, one produces the ultimate tribute – a movie dedicated to the ‘Ring.

Produced by French director Stephane Benini and aptly named Titan, the movie strings together action from the 1000km of the Nurburgring and features modern and vintage racers and motorcycles. The sound that the racers produce (especially the Corvette) is simply intoxicating so turn it up and check out the 6-minute HD video above to know what to expect from the movie.

Hmmm.. trailer seems dull in my view and it also seems to have missed a point.

The 'green hell' is associated with the entire ring. The full 22km lap which includes the much revered Nordschleife (Northern section) This is what made the ring famous. There is also the Sudschleife(Southern) and finally the 5km 'GP Strecke' where modern day F1 raced.

Most of the footage are of the shorter GP Strecke. What more the 1000km Nurburgring race is actually part of the 'Le Mans Series' and is run on the GP Strecke.

The 'holy grail' of sports car racing, in my view is actually the Le Mans 24 hr race at the La Sarthe circuit. All teams enter the Le Mans Series(LMS), the American Le Mans Series(ALMS) and now Asian LMS all because they want to be eligible for the jewel in the crown - '24 Heures du Mans' which is generally only entered by invitation from the organizers.

To promote the Nurburgring as the 'green hell' by featuring a Le Mans Series race(1000km Nurburgring) held on the GP Strecke (nothing hellish' about it) doesn't do justice at all.

For modern day races they should have focused on the 24hr Nurburgring race which is held on the Nordschleife and maybe deleted the 1000km footages as Le Mans (which is what the 1000km race is part of) is actually a rival to the Nurburgring! And you cannot argue with the heritage of the Le Mans 24 race.
