The guys over at Autocar have revealed the future product plans of AMG and it seems as if the horsepower wars is effectively over. Autocar has revealed that it’s sources over at AMG say that new AMG cars will employ weight-saving techniques and fine-tuning of the mechanical parts to boost the car’s ability. The emphasis this time will be on improving the car’s agility rather than outright power and speed.
Apparently AMG will release a Black Series version of the E-Class coupe but ruled out the Black Series version of the C-Class saloon because these limited-run AMGs have to be based on two-door models. Instead, the current C63 AMG will get a more powerful version as it currently is the least powerful AMG model with 457hp.
“For this performance version you can count on more than 500bhp but less than 525bhp,” said an AMG engineer.
The source also said there are no plans to use the seven-speed Speedshift MCT gearbox from the E63 and SL63 in the C63, despite the fact that it will fit the car.
