The 2009 Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race is set to take place this weekend at the Sepang International Circuit and yesterday was the official practise session. We were there to catch all the thrills and spills as teams rushed to fine tune their vehicles and get everything up to standard in anticipation for one of the most grueling races in the region.
Some teams suffered engine blow outs while others contemplated on how to improve the handling of their car. I spoke to Kenny Lee of Wing Hin racing who are contesting a Toyota Altezza and everything seems to be going well with them except for some minor handling issues which should be rectified as you read this.
Team Cartrade-ABT suffered a engine blow-out but managed to work that issue out overnight with a new engine and some massive engineering work. J’s racing however sprung up the biggest surprise with their secret weapon, drift king Keiichi Tsuchiya. J’s Racing are last year’s Class A champions and the team is hugely confident that the Kings presence will help them reach the top step of the podium this year round. We’ll see how they fare in today’s qualifying session. Check out the pictures from the practise session.
