These are the first crystal-clear shots of the next-generation Porsche 911 – internally called the 998 – that will replace the current 997 model in 2011.
A lack of side air-intakes in front of the rear wheels and the huge rear wing which hides the shape of the smaller spoiler of the standard 911s suggests the car seen here is not the new 911 Turbo.
Compared to the current model, the front lights are standing more upright and perhaps is a tribute to the original 911s. The side mirrors have moved from the side window corner to the side of the door( Porsche is using the same mirrors on the prototype as it had years ago on the production versions of 968 and 993) Don’t get confused by the rear lights as these are just temporary. The next-generation 911 will feature the same flat-six engine that will surely feature a power boost and the new PDK dual-clutch gearbox.
