HPC-ZTH Race Team Driver – Ross Jamison

ross1Ross Jamison is the current 2008 Formula Formula BMW Pacific Championship Leader. He began collecting his string of titles at the tender age of 12 at the Hong Kong Karting Mall Grand Prix, beating his rivals by a mile.

He made the moved to participate in races in Malaysia under the City-Karting Star Driver Programme. By the end of this first year in 2003, he got to be the runner up tine Dunlop AMC Malaysian Championship, after James Russell. He was also the runner up in the Malaysian Junior Rotax Max Challenge, a championship which has launched many a racing prodigy in Malaysia such as Jazeman Jaafar and Calvin Wong.

He moved on to become the Asian Karting Champion in 2005 and was awarded the Asian International Karter of the Year by the Golden Wheels Foundation in 2006.

In 2007, he was the winner of the BMW Scholarship Award, which enabled him to compete in the Formula BMW Asia serious. Despite the vast upgrade from karts onto these lean mean machines, Ross adapted well to emerge runner up in the Rookie Cup and was placed 5th in the overall championship.

This Welsh born Hong Kong Resident who has just finished his A Levels in Economics, History and English is, as we know, the current championship leader.

Despite his grueling schedule, he spends his free time indulging in hobbies such as squash and mountain biking whenever he gets his chance, just like all 18 year olds.

The MME will be Ross’ first endurance race and first competitive drive in saloon cars.
When approached by James for the opportunity to drive in a team event together, Ross jumped at the chance to drive with his good friend.
Ross’ speed and familiarity with the Sepang F1 Track will be an integral part to the team’s aim for a podium finish at the 2008’ MME.
