Having had great success with the initial wave of the all-female drivers team this year, Red Bull Rookies has once again called on female drivers throughout the country to come and join their team in proving that the ladies can drive well and look great at the same time!
This roadshow in Penang is just one of the many stops planned by Red Bull Rookies, with the following locations next:
– Kota Bahru, November 28th
– Kuala Terengganu, November 30th
– Skudai, JB, December 6th
– Kuala Lumper, December 13th
The roadshow at the Juru Autocity, Penang began revving right from the start at 12pm under the blazing sun till late in the evening. Response from female drivers of the northern states was great and many ladies tried their best to catch the eyes of the Red Bull Rookies team, with some even coming all the way from Kedah and Perlis.
Fortunately for those who missed the final registration date last month, the organisers decided to open the registration of participation today on location. This allowed even more ladies to try their hands at driving both the virtual racing game (GranTurismo) and handling a timed-sprint in a Proton Saga.
The timed-sprint was action packed with Red Bull Rookies driver Leona Chin showing how its done in a tight 40 second sprint (even with a passenger).
The mini sprint circuit was set up by the Asia Advanced Driving Academy (AADA) and their experienced instructors were on hand to guide the participants and ensure the safety of all aspiring race drivers. The mini circuit consisted of slaloms and tricky turns to test the handling, braking, reversing, judgement, gear-shifting speed and cornering skills of the ladies.
Red Bull drinks were free flowing to help cool down the participants under the scorching sun and the event was definitely memorable for those who participated. Those who qualify for the next step in achieving their dream of becoming a racing driver will be notified by email and/or phone soon.
