Red Bull Female Driver Search Sweeps Through KL

The Red Bull Female Driver Search 2008 stopped by our capital city today at The Republic Bar, Sunway Pyramid II in its aim of finding spunky, young, female, potential race-car drivers to become the next batch of Red Bull Rookies.

Current Red Bull Rookies, Leona Chin and Puteri Ayu did the brand proud when they finished sixth at the Merdeka Millenium Endurance Race last August. The pair were also present at this KL stop of the nationwide search.

Since the launch in July this year, the second season of the Red Bull Female Driver Search has garnered more than 1400 online registrations as part of the first phase. The second phase of this search which is the nationwide roadshow has already visited places like Kuching, Ipoh, Malacca, Penang, and Johor Bahru. Thus far, the roadshows have garnered over 1,000 hopeful applicants vying for that top ten spots and be in the running to be part of the next batch of Red Bull Rookies.

Yesterday’s applicants at Republic Bar underwent a series of interviews but only 50 will be selected to undergo a driving test on Monday 15th December in Shah Alam. Among the highlights for the visitors were demonstrations, fun-filled activites, interactive games and as you can see in the pictures, goofy moments.

The Red Bull Female Driver Search is a partnership between Red Bull and Asia Advanced Driving Academy who is a service provider of Driver Training and Driver Development as well as organizing corporate motoring events, road safety campaigns, new car launches, stunt driving. The academy is headed by Malaysian driving ace Kenvin Loh. The partnership aims to find, fund, and nurture aspiring, up and coming female Malaysian driving talents by preparing them to race in Asia’s biggest endurance race, the Merdeka Millenium Endurance Race.

The search continues to its final leg at Kota Kinabalu this coming Friday, 20th December 08. If you’re female, be there to get noticed, if you’re male, be there to be amazed.
