Nissan is planning to introduce a new entry level sports car in 2010. It is believed to be a replacement model for the aged 200SX and hopes are being pinned on it to fill a gap in the automotive market for cheap front/rear coupes (FR).
If produced, the 240SX will be pinned directly against the rear powered sports car that Subaru and Toyota are planning to build together.
With a design that resembles the current generation Silvia S15 and a wheelbase identical to the new Nissan 350Z, the 240SX, (according to Japan’s Best Car magazine) will be powered by either a 2 liter naturally aspirated engine, or even a 1.6 or 1.8 turbocharged unit. And with the utilization of direct injection and a Variable Compression Ratio System, those scrawny engines are good for an impressive 220bhp.
Expect it to be in the further regions of RM250,000.
