Kia Is Now Race Proven – To Participate in Nurburgring 24 Hour Endurance Race

kia_pro-ceed

If you’re one of those people that don’t think very highly of Korean brands or other brands with similar brand perception, its about time you amend that opinion as one Korean manufacturer, Kia is about to prove perceptions wrong when it takes its Kia Pro_Cee’d racing in this year’s Nurburgring 24-hour endurance race (May 24-25).

Considered as the ultimate endurance race, the Kia Pro_Ceed’ will have to finish the 1,900km journey between start and end of race without so much as a hiccup. The race prepped Pro_Ceed’ is powered by Kia’s stock 2.0 liter diesel engine producing 138hp at 4000rpm and 305Nm of torque from 1800 to 2500rpm. Four drivers are lined up to complete the challenge, the line-up consists of Dr Alberto Bergamaschi – a veteran of 360 races; Gianni Bellani – an experienced long distance race expert; and two experienced touring car drivers, Paolo Cecchellero and Edo Varini.

And just to further convince skeptics, Kia hasn’t gone and created a fully race prepped model like VW did with its Scirocco GT24 but instead its going to race a barely modified three door Pro_Ceed. Kia is now race proven, and it could just be a matter of time before we see a Korean manufacturer in F1, Hyundai maybe?
