There’s no need to introduce Maserati, it’s cars, it’s trident and it’s racing heritage is indisputable. So with that in mind, the legendary Italian marque has released details of its latest competition model, called the GranTurismo MC Corse Concept.
Spy shots have been circling the Internet for a while now and this car looks to be the same as the one hiding under all that camo. Based on the 430hp GranTurismo S, the MC Corse, bred to be a race car, is destined for the tarmac, the legal side of it that is. The engine, as expected, has received numerous power upgrades. A new intake system, competition spec catalytic converter and a center-exit exhaust boosts output to 450hp.
Since power is nothing without control, grip is enhanced by an increased track along with a new front splitter, a larger rear spoiler, and a more aerodynamically efficient side skirt. The suspension expectedly has been upgraded and the 18inch wheels are now wrapped in racing slicks, though how that is going to perform on the streets is anybody’s guess. To keep everything manageable and well for every other sane reason, Maserati has fitted MC Corse with enlarged brake discs with monobloc racing calipers and… an FIA-approved rollcage!
Just as its older brother, the MC12 Corse, the GranTurismo MC Corse promises to deliver one seriously demonic ride to match its looks. While many believe this is the car Maserati has been hinting at, there still is uncertainty to that, so stay tuned.
