Dear Evo 7 8 9 owners,

I am getting my VIII soon, bought all the diaqueen fluid and preparing for a major oil change for the VIII.

I have no problem in changing the other oil, but only the AYC/ACD.

Where do you guys usually send your 7 8 9 to get the AYC/ACD fluid changed and flush?

My location is around Selangor / KL.

Thanks ;)

You don't have to bleed the system if you're just changing the ayc fluid. Well if you really have to, just get evoscan/MUT2 to activate the pump OR, you can manually bleed if you know the correct proceedures. Never trust the so-called evo specialists to even wash your evo hahaha...

Thanks for the replies guys.

Yup, i was aware that we do not need to bleed or flush the system unless we are taking apart the parts.

You mean the turn the ignition to ON (but never to start it), hold the throttle all the way down and the AYC/ACD pump will activate for 5 sec. And bleed the system within the 5 sec, repeat the step all over until you're done.

Thanks man ;)

Some "famous" workshop in Sunway don't understand or got confuse with the AYC/ACD system. Don't be surprise to find there is not fluid coming out from your ayc diff. Don't ask me which workshop !

They tend to think the AYC fluid reservoir tank in your rear trunk will feed the fluid to the AYC pump and also to the AYC differential, but they are wrong. The reservoir will only feed ayc fluid to the pump, and IT WILL NOT FEED any fluid to the AYC diff clutch bath.

I am surprised i got only 1-2 drips of dark oil from the ayc diff.. If it is beyond dirty, very very dark, refill the ayc diff with fresh oil, drive it for a week and drain it out again and renew with fresh ayc fluid and you're good to go.

It is crucial to renew the AYC diff fluid yearly, the AYC/ACD pump can just leave it there unless it becomes very dirty. And they required no bleeding unless you took apart the fluid lines, replacing the clutch pack, axle etc.

The rear AYC differential still require draining and refill on top of the ayc differential.

(For Evo 7 8 9 only, unsure about 4 5 6 is the same or not)

1. You need 24mm of socket for the drain nut.
2. Look for the 24mm nut with small ATF-SP III wording. (It is located behind the axle diff drain nut, 24mm as well)
3. DON'T DRAIN THE FLUID YET !
4. Look for the fill nut above the two bleeding nipple, there is a wording ATF-SP III as well with arrow pointing to it, the fill nut will have OIL on the nut itself. This is the fill nut. (Located around the rear crossmember)
5. Now u need 17mm offset spanner for the fill nut, open the fill nut now.
6. Next, put on the 24mm socket and drain the ayc diff fluid.
7. Clean the metal/clutch plate debris stick on the drain nut magnet.
8. Wait until it stop dripping out any oil.
9. Refit the drain nut, tighten it just nice, don't over tighten it.
10. Get a 10mm CLEAN tubing, or any tube that can fit in the fill nut.
11. In this DIY, i used the toilet bleach and fit the tubing on top of the cap for refilling. Make sure u clean the whole thing, and you won't want bleaching agent mixing up with ur fresh ayc fluid.

12. fill the bottle with fresh AYC fluid. and pump it from above, or if you have a compressor air gun with you, poke a small hole just nice enough to fit in a air gun into the bottle, trigger the air gun and the fluid will go in as fast as possible. (note, trigger the airgun slow and easy, so you don't waste the fluid).
13. fill until it the fresh AYC fluid starting to come out from the fill nut, now refit the fill nut with the metal crush washer and tighten just nice enough with 17mm offset spanner.
14. KOW DIM !

Now i know how to change the fluid of the ayc system, i will do it myself by lending lifting jack and equipment from a friend shop.. Better to do it myself than paying others to screw up your Evo.

sorry for my poor england haha
