what does closed deck means?

the term closed deck refers to the cylinder liners . they are not exposed at the cylinder head gasket face this makes a much stiffer block. its the water liner, doesnt go thru the open head. this block is same level like the VR4 block... more durability for high boost even i just tuned it only 0.8 bar
