Appointment don't work these days.

Are people today don't care, not serious about keeping appointment? Or they dont have a sense of timeliness?

I have sat in for job interview on behalf my boss for the past 2 days. 50% of the shortlisted candidates either come late, some ill prepared for the interview and some even cancelled the interview last minute...What a bunch of time wasters....

Anyone here facing such problem?

Unfortunately yes, punctuality is not yet good in Malaysia. Often meetings & appointments are not on time, quite annoying. :banghead:

If they are here for an interview and they are late... you can see no f*** was given. I'd get them to fill up the form and ask them out the door. The form is used to shitlist them for future positions in the company.

During my time, was okay. Maybe nowadays plenty of job for them, that is why some even cancel...:banghead:

Personally, I would just skip those time wasters....but the listed candidates was picked by my boss.....so had to layan.

One interviewee had his mother called in (coincidentally?) to ask about his son interview.....only later to "promote" his son that he was kind, helpful and goody boy at home. The HR assistant manager told me after the interview. hahahah. Adui....:banghead:

I only know two types of profession that really appreciates the punctuality, adhered to it, upholds the punctuality integrity very very high... as I have always deal with these guys.
Law and Judiciary profession and also aviators (especially fighter pilots).

Ken, you hiring people ka? me me me *Ahem*

Timing in Malaysia is mostly due to mindset. Thinking they can beat the traffic or not considering it at all. Or like the typical Chinese wedding dinner - the mindset is "aiya everyone else will be late, why must we be early?".

Bro Izzo,

Also in chinese wedding, the late comers are the ones that pretend to be VVIP, that tend to makes the last minute entry to the banquet. They wanna make impression that they are oredi biasa with such banquet...

These are the culprit that makes the banquet starting late.....

I hate waiting for people....esp. stomach oredi hungry for dinner....

Consider lucky that you have not met those who come interview with their mum or dad. (usually mum)
They will sit in the interview room and get interviewed together with the son.

To me, if u need your mum to accompany you for interview, means u r not ready to even come to work or do anything big on your own..
Later need OT time, complain to mum, mum come and see the boss on why making the son OT.

 Some parents really dunno what is in their skull.

On side note, I'm always on time for appointments/date hahaha! (Unless stated I'll be late)

my cousin actually moved late comers to the table right at the end of the hall, towards the more undesirable part from their initial allocated table....

true, those late comers uncle and aunties raise a stink with his parents but as it is his big day, no fucks was given... further more, u only most likely see them like once a year or maybe not at all... so why give any fucks?

the VIP thinks they are the special ones....that could afford to be late.

Reminds me of the politicians or vips among the govt. Normally, they arrive late at events, and they are the first to leave pulak...
How can these ppl be late? since they oredi have police escort that open jalan all the way for them???

Double standard? or they forgot to wear their Rolex watches to tell time??:banghead:

Well, having hung out with a lot of VIP's kids in the past, I understand why they always come late. It's some sort of security protocol so their client does not get lost in a crowd. I was in the same class as Vincent Tans son so I understand their point of view. But these are usually high profile VIPs. Those small nobodies who purposely come late should be shot.

The only wedding dinner that I always enjoy is Malay wedding dinners. They start straight after their prayers regardless of how many people are seated. Thumbs up to traditional Malay weddings. And ayam rendaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnng......... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

u said it... it is Pak Lah.. i never liked him as he is always late.

There was an incident.. where i went to a function where he is the VIP guess..

so i waited also i was rushing to go somewhere... as i waited while listening to kids (guest who brought their kids) crying bcoz they are hungry. at 2PM Pak Lah came... i was like syukur can eat already la... n then the MC said "Pak Lah going to speak on stage"

I WTF n terus chiao.... no need to eat there sure long speech also i am rushing to somewhere urgent..

Pak Lah did the 2nd same thing during Robert Rainford (some boring BBQ celeb chef to me as he eats satay at Singapore not Malaysia), there was an episode where Robert Rainford came to Malaysia and the food was ready but they cannot serve bcoz the VIP was late. Robert Rainford was furious and want to serve to the people 1st but bcoz of protocol cannot... so then they showed the VIP came (with police car). The show never showed who... the dinner which was at 8PM to 9PM started at 10PM bcoz of VIP. This episode is banned later... sad i did not record it.

Thanx to majority of the people n the internet, it was Pak Lah.. honestly i avoid if he is the guest.

It's the norm in many Malaysians and this is a shameful mindset indeed. While there are some job candidates who are late, I also hate the hiring person starting the interview very late. There was once an interviewer let me waited for an hour before he comes in.

Yes..and the ones who suffer the most are the receptionist...gotta wait until at least 80-90% then only can go to the eating table.

Consider lucky that you have not met those who come interview with their mum or dad. (usually mum)

If I encounter parents who accompany their child to an interview, I'll prepare two forms for both of them to fill in. If milf then I'll interview her first. If dick then I'll call security.
