Honda works team rider Dani Pedrosa has ruled himself out of making a comeback at Sepang this weekend for the Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix de to his injury sustained from a crash during practice at Motegi last Friday.

As Pedrosa was one of the riders still in contention for the championship, skipping this weekend’s race means that championship leader Jorge Lorenzo only needs to finish no lower than tenth spot to clinch the overall title for 2010.

Having undergone surgery oon his broken collarbone back in his native Spain after the crash, there was a miniscule chance that he would make the starting grid for this weekend but he has now decided that he isn’t in good enough shape to take to the track.

“After the successful operation, there was a very slim chance that the Spaniard would be fit enough to make the journey from Barcelona to Malaysia and attempt to take part in this weekend's MotoGP race. However, after careful consideration, Pedrosa has made the understandable decision to stay at home to continue his recovery,” said the Honda team.

Pedrosa is snow sticking to his original return target of the Australian Grand Prix that will see practice kick off on 15 October. The Honda team have also decided not to replace Pedrosa for this weekend, which means that teammate Andrea Dovizioso will be the sole Honda works representative on the track.
