Ferrari has finally unveiled the drop-top roadster version of their 599 that will make its public debut at Paris in a weeks time and is limited to only 80 units worldwide, all of which have already found garages that they will never see the light of day from.

Even Ferrari themselves are calling this the ‘most exclusive Ferrari ever.’ The model is based on the 599 GTB that is powered by the 6-liter V12 from the GTO. It was built as a tribute to styling house Pininfarina, that have penned many designs for the Prancing Horse over the years, on its 80th anniversary this year.

Setting apart this roadster from the hard-roofed version would be the lower-slung windscreen that has been stiffened and shorn of fat to keep the weight balance between this and the coupe as close as possible to equal.

If the sky does open up, a quick-remove light soft-top is the only solace available. Power from the V12 stands at 661hp and torque is a generous 643Nm of torque. Acceleration figures aren’t in yet but expect it to be close to the GTO’s 3.35-seconds for the century dash, Ferrari’s fastest road car ever.
