I had mine also painted cf look. But the painter used a fish net with holes around 10x bigger than that of a mosquito net. The painter soaked the net on a thinner so that it would easily peel off after painting and not get smudges.

Steps:
1. Spray Black for the Base(Undercoat)
2. Stensil: Anti Slip Mat. any other suggestions?
3. then silver or gold is nicer on the top?
4. Thin layer of black
5. Finish it off with 1 or 2 layers of clear coat.
You guys got the basic ideas but real CF have the 3D effects...

So i suggest the following steps....

1. Spray Black for the Base(Undercoat) Flat black
2. Clear coat 2-3 layers glossy thick
2. Stensil: Anti Slip Mat or mesh
3. then bronze metallic is on the top
4. Thin layer of black
5. Finish it off with 2-3 layers of clear coat
The additional steps will make the bronze metallic like floating thus achieving the 2.5D look.
TQ:biggrin:

P/s: spray some "temporary spray glue" on nonslip mat, so that any curve/uneven areas will less gap... (can get from stationary shop or art and craft)... when spray on paper the glue becomes like
"post it" note glue...

This was for the Lamborghini Museum exhibition: "La Forza del Toro" held at Chiostro del Bramante, Rome on 26 April to 8 May 2011. I bet most of the crowd be wondering how the heck that the large Lamborghini was able to fit the small tiny door. Check out the interesting...
