acd / acd pump failure...

heard that evo 7 acd pump fails easily,,, anybody kena b4?
what to fix, where to fix and how much to fix..
anybody can share how the failure like.. produce click clink sound or ...etc

Its the AYC pump. Make sure its the pump and change it fast or else you will need to replace your AYC. Cost 2nd pump SGD300, SGD1.8k for AYC. Try bleeding the system 1st.

3lights ON?
during bleed the oil, the pressure is high or low or just dripping?

my 3 acd lights have been on for a year now, i tried locating a 2nd hand ayc pump but no luck.
even if i could get one, im a bit skeptical cos i dont want the problem to repeat itself.
so at the moment, im just driving the car as it is.

i wonder if mitsu can retrofit the super ayc onto evo 7's....?

As i said b4 get it fix before u regret spending more on the AYC, happen to one of the member. Never change pump,spoilt AYC never change AYC,spoilt ACD Its a chain reaction.

Have you bleed ur AYC b4? Have you done a diagnostic test on ur car?
Sometimes if ur luckly its just the sensor spoilt not the pump or the AYC. Do u have whistiling sound at high speed?DO you have clunking sound when taking hard corners?

get MUTII to diagnose it. it will tell everything.

Oonbc,
Most frequent failure indicates 3lights on. Urs is a E7 or E8? Never seen problems wif SAYC.
There are other method to check ur pumps

bro, mine is e8... 3lights on for sometime d.. hai...

when i start my car the ayc light is only 1light (e.g TARMAC), then after a few mins. 3lights will on... if i press the button two times when 3lights is on, n we know it will be SNOW even it shows 3lights.. then i off the key, n on again, it show SNOW... so i m not sure if my SAYC is working or not..

how to check the pump failure ah?
how to confirm if its the sensor or the relay or pump problems?
appreciate any input

i got my 3 light on only when i chnage the diff. oil.....after throw away the air inside ..then 3 light indicated back to 1 light normal....

Lanevo6> yea i've bled the AYC a few times, twice at Ralliart in Klang (before the name change) and once in the Mitsubishi Glenmarie Service Centre.

Plugged into MUTII as well, and unfortunately for me it says the pump is spoilt, not the sensor. Asked them to order for me but they said they dont have stock and that Mitsu Japan has no stock either.

As for the symptoms, i dont really feel/hear any difference since i dont really take the car to the track. just the occasional sprint on the way home or on the way out.

No whistling at high speed and clunking from tight corners.
the clunking is only there when i just start the car and only 1 of the ACD lights are on, make a turn, clunk clunk clunk, 3 ACD lights come on.
sigh....

i'm trying to find somewhere to recondition the pump, or worst case scenario get an aftermarket LSD? Is the AYC/ACD even an LSD though?

sorry for all the questions, been driving the car for some time and i still dont know what this is all about.

a few reasons maybe:

1. there is enuff air trapped in the system....bleeding wasnt done correct or enough

2. ayc oil wasnt filled up to the sufficient level....u need to drive n test n repeat dis cycle a few times to verify dat the ayc oil level maintains sufficiently....if only do 1 time most probably it isnt at the appropriate level

3. pump is faulty.......do not wait .....correct it at the earliest.......i have seen evo taking corner with a faulty ayc....resulted into a BUANG......experience it at your own risk..........

AYC is a form of LSD specificially made to be monitored n controlled by electronics....dat is the main beauty of modern evo setup instead of the typical purists mechanical LSD setup which requires a lot of driver skills to master the car

sigh....but so hard to get the part from mitsu.
i spose its because i didnt buy the car from them.
if i bought it from them and they treat me like this i'll be very disappointed with the after sales service.

anyone out there with contacts for a new ayc pump??

did you do it with MUTII ? or bleed manually by your mechanice ?
