helo sifu,
need opinion here,i got a vr4 block that wanted to replace piston.what piston to get beside stock vr4 one?can it fit evo piston nicely?which compression will be higher,vr4 or evo?

evo's are higher compression

evo 1 n 2, 8.5:1
evo 3 , 9:1

okies, evo has a higher compression compare vr4,but izit possible to fix evo piston to vr4 block?bore is the same meanwhile stock diffrent?

evo diff is just stroke, bore same

are you sure about this.... using different formula to calculate engine CC..

evo - 1997cc
vr4 - 1997cc

any commens on fitting evo piston to vr4,curious to know.

have to machine the small end of the rod a little smaller and bore the hole a litte bigger

khoyos : im sick bai, no mood to even go out man, other than that doing ok ;)

jo1 : so we dont need to rebore right, jsut put in the piston and good to go right
i mean including machining the conrod n hole , just wanted to ask , will evo 4 onwards fit ? is it more stronger, just asking :) maybe u got kaki who did em , haha mr.p still pantang for me to change piston.

no, complete internal vr4, except pistons only evo.
explanation for jo1 n jinkl's statement
if u notice, vr4 conrod is thicker than evo conrod. so obviously at the piston pin, vr4 has bigger area compared to evo. so u have to machine the evo pistons(rebore at piston pin hole), in order for them to be fitted to vr4 conrod.

vr4 conrod better than evo conrod, but evo pistons better than vr4 pistons. so combine them in a vr4 block. better do it during overhaul only, as it is a tedious job. if ur block is healthy, not necessary. so many people in malaysia have cracked the 400whp barrier using 100% stock (but healthy) engine block...

jinkl, someone close to us already fitted evo7 pistons to vr4 block(or was it evo block forgot already). super responsive. high boost capability unknown...

but if is using vr4 conrod & evo piston, izzit lasting compare with vr4 stock piston & conrod?does the block need any modification in order to put the evo piston?will the compression will be higher after fixing evo piston compare to stock vr4?

stock engine with stock turbo with stock boost is the most long lasting. modification mentioned in previous post #13. of course la compression ratio higher

don't machine the piston just machine the conrod...... evo piston with vr4 conrod is the most common upgrade for 500hp but the machining work had to be done to the conrod or maybe need to hone the block.
