Talks about clay bar, it cost slightly above rm100, can get from Ace Hardware.

I didn't have it, too expensive.

I did let the car wash centre tried (clay bar cleanning) once on my car, just a small area on the rear boot.

The effect of cleanning off all those sticky dirt is damn great. After wash but before clay cleaning, the surface is a bit rough, can feel by hand, eventhough i have polish & wax it few weeks ago. Then after clay bar cleaning, the surface is damn smooth! And can see the dirt sticked on the clay bar. Those dirt cant be clean off by car wash, will stick to clay bar.

Application of clay bar:
Use after car wash, but before polish & wax. 1st: "mixed" it like mixing plastersin(for 2nd time usage & above), to hide those dirty things inside the clay, then spray water to the clay bar & the car surface, then rub the clay bar on the surface (straight, not circular), repeat "mixed it" several time after clean-up a small section, clean section by section.

After clay bar cleanning, wipe dry & can start polish & wax again.

About Rain-X, i am regular user. It did great job only during: heavy rain pour + high way drives (need > 60kmh to get the effect).

Like bro B00n said, i also didn't switch on wiper during heavy rain on high way, bcos water drops clear off faster that way. I can see ppl struggling to see with wiper speed to max & drive slow but still cant have good vision.

But if drives slow in city, rain-x doesn't do that much. The only good part is the side window & rear winscreen, and side mirror too. Helps to keep clear vision all round.

Its advisible to have winscreen polish once a while. Bcos ordinary car wash (unless do it daily) hardly clean off stuborn dirt & water mark. So polish it can clean it better.

I use car plan glass polish (rm10~12) then combo with generous amount of rain-x. After application, just use a not-too-wet cloth to wipe clean. It want better effect, wipe again with dry cloth after that.

For really serious water mark, can use those a/cond cleaning liquid (red color) to clean it first. Water mark wont occur if you wash ur car frenquently, irregardless whether you use rain-x or not.

For wiper judder problem, according to accs shop ppl, if the glass surface is clean & not too "dry", due to application of rain-x, then problem is that the structure of the wiper (the metal part) is slightly "bengkok" already, although not so obious to be seen by ordinary ppl.....dunno true or not. They advise to get a new pair of wiper if its not due to the glass dryness.

Refill wiper blade also not performing as good as new wiper bcos the few "spring arch" that hold the wiper blade will lost its strength in long term. When you hold up your wiper, you cant see it bent the wiper as when it is new. So replacing the whole set of wiper is more advisable.

Just my 2 cent lar. Please dont fire me lar :>

Regarding claybar, you can get them at ACE hardware but the range they sell are the extreme premium ones. If not mistaken, ACE carries the Mequairs brands which is probably the most premium and more expensive among all.

I go to Eneos in One Utama to get the claybar and its only about RM25 per block. Its a small block, something like a 1/2" by 2" block but each time you clay your car, you probably only use like a quarter of that block. But it also depends on how dirty your car is. The first time i use it, i took almost half a block to clay the car and boy, the claybar couldn't get any dirtier. The brand is Soft99, from Japan.

Lets talk briefly about claybar. What it does essentially is to remove very tiny and stubborn stains on your car. Say you have tar marks and you've tried every freaking tar/bug remover to no avail. You use the claybar and just rub it on the tar marks for a few minutes. The clay would use its slight abrasive nature to grind off a very very thin layer of the car paint body, which in turn removes the stains.

Each time you clay your whole car, you will feel the car paint to be smoother than before. However, it must be remembered that everytime you clay the car, you should use polish/wax to re-protect the car body again. Remember, you're removing a thin layer of protection, thats why your car body is clean and smooth. So you have to polish and put a layer of wax again.

When i started using claybar, i doubted the ability as i thought i overpaid for a fucking piece of plasticin. But when you use it, you'll realise how much difference it makes to your car. Trust me. Important is to throw away the block of clay everytime you use. It gets dirty and if you re-use a few times, you're actually putting more scratches on the paint as the old stains is stuck to the clay.

Hope that helps!

Wow, throw away the rm25 block after just a few usage?.....wallet pain lor...

How often u clay bar clean the whole car? monthly?

or u only do it on selective surface?

1/2" by 2" block is just a few inches in size? isn't it abit too small to grab firmly?

So just like polishing with thinner/petrol lar? (ie as abrasive as that?)

U said the steel bar that holds the wiper bengkok, so by replacing new sets of wiper also doesnt have any effect since its the steel bar that causes the problem. Rite? im a lil confuse here.

Its the "arch" shape thing in the wiper, like 4 (or less) "bow" holding the wiper blade/rubber. Those are the one that lost its strength after long term usage.

Try pull up / stick up ur wiper, comparing its condition when its new VS when its "old, you will able to see that after long time, those arch doesn't hold the blade as strong as they use to do.

But frankly, when accs ppl point out to me that my wiper "bengkok" abit, i also cant differentiate it.

My most regreted thing about wiper is not having change them when they start to have a little bit split end in the tip of the wiper blade, ends up with pernanent wiper scratches

I use to thought (too lan si already) that since i have taken good care of my rubber wipers (last > 2 yrs) it shld still able to do d job although a little split end occurs, but fren, learn from my painful lesson, replace it!!
